Turtle Beach Announces Stealth 700 and Generation 2 Stealth 600 To Their Award Winning Lineup

Over the last number of years, whenever I think ‘gaming headsets’ I’m thinking about Turtle Beach, and the fantastic headsets they’ve created and released, including their all time leading seller, the Stealth 600 on Xbox One and PS4. Today, Turtle Beach announced a brand new Gen 2 Stealth 700, and the newest generation of the Stealth 600, coming to both Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

With the Gen 2 Stealth 600 available this weekend on PlayStation 4, we wanted to make sure our initial impressions of the newest generation of the Stealth 600 were up for your pleasure, and once again, Turtle Beach is all about comfort and quality with this sub $100 headset. Comfy ear cushions that are glasses friendly – really folks, not every company is doing that these days… – fit snuggly on my ears, and house the outstanding 50mm speakers that have been refined to provide even better audio when playing your favourite games. When comparing the original 600 and the Gen 2 600, I can say with some certainty that things have been slightly improved and refined, enough to warrant a new purchase.

The headset design itself is slightly tweaked from the original model as well, providing extra support around the head, keeping the Gen 2 model floating on your head rather than feeling like a lead weight. As you move down the headband and onto the cups, consumers will appreciate the vastly improved microphone with flip-to-mute technology that is much improved over the already fantastic original. While we haven’t had the longest time to really decide how much better it is, we can say once again, it is noticeably more effective. As for clarity, we found noticeable (although not mind blowing) differences between Gen 2 and Gen 1, although that might be more of a compliment to the quality of the original.

We will definitely take the Gen 2 Stealth 600 for a longer spin, and talk more about what we like and don’t like down the road, but with the PS4 model dropping this weekend, it’s an easy recommendation from us. Wait for our full scored review in the near future!
