Mr. Driller DrillLand Review

If you’ve ever played Dig Dug, you know that game is about digging deeper and depper into the ground. Mr. Driller DrillLand for the Nintendo Switch is a lot like Dig Dug, expect with its own unique flavor. Is that flavor enough to make this game interesting?

Mr. Driller DrillLand features a world map with five different attractions, basically six different worlds. Each one of them has them our unique flavor: everything from Indiana Jones style adventure to horror to outer space.

The gameplay is similar in each world: whatever character you are controlling digs deeper and deeper. There are different powerups for each world and different collectibles, but the core gameplay remains the same.

Mr. Driller can fun at times, but if played too long, it becomes a bit repetitive. This is, without a doubt, a game thats meant to be played in short bursts.

There are some distractions in this game that do give you a break from the main gameplay like a parade and buying some collectibles at the stores. These are not essential to the game but some people may appreciate them.

Meanwhile, the game’s graphics are cute. The game is similar to Dig Dug but its cute very Japanese anime flavor adds a charm that Dig Dug lacked. And each world has its own unique and cool look. The games sound is alright.

Mr. Driller DrillLand even has a main story and each attraction has its own unique introduction. These introductions are ok, but easily skippable. The gameplay is where the fun is found. It does have really good controls!

Mr. Driller DrillLand is a good game. Its at its best in small doses. If you enjoy puzzle games that have you digging for various treasures and cute anime style graphics, then this may be the puzzle game for you.
