Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics is a collection of small games, everything from card games to fishing. We’ve seen Clubhouse Games on portables before but never a full fledged console version. Is Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics worth checking out on the Nintendo Switch? Let’s take a look in our full review of Clubhouse Games!
Let’s hit on what doesn’t work, because in reality, Clubhouse Games isn’t perfect. Not every game on it is an instantly understandable, even with the introductions, and most of all, not all the controls are great for this game.
The touch screen controls, especially, are very hit or miss. You won’t want to play darts or bowling via the touch screen. Those games should be played by the motion controls, although in all honesty darts still isn’t that great via motion controls. Bowling will give you Wii Sports flashbacks, which is a great nostalgic boost for those who remember playing that collection daily. Card games seem to work fine via touch screen, but I still ultimately preferred the analog controls.
That all said, Clubhouse Games is definitely worth picking up! Most of the games are extremely addictive. I especially loved fishing, Last Card, and 6-ball puzzle. Its very likely that everyone will be able to find at least a few games here that they really love. Once again, Nintendo has created a very accessible title that will appeal to a wide range of auidences.
The menu system for the game is pretty good too. I like that there are “guides” who give you a smaller selections of games to try out and sometimes give you special rewards too. Its not to hard to find games to play, and even when you aren’t sure about how the game is played, fantastic tutorials will walk you through everything you need to know.
Clubhouse Games doesn’t feature a story or anything that connects the games, which is understandable. Its a collection much like Wii Sports. The bowling, darts, and a few other games will make you think of that game. There are some games like the card games or the various puzzle games that are totally unique and in my opinion, and the best games of this collection. The real trick to enjoying this title, however, is that you cannot be afraid to try something new. It is these unique game experiences that make this collection shine.
It should be noted that Clubhouse Games has single player, local multiplayer, and online multiplayer. I played the single player a lot and enjoyed it. I did not get to try out the local multiplayer but hope to do so in the future. However I did try out the online multiplayer and I thought it worked great. I am now addicted to playing Last Card online with others!
The game’s graphics are not the best on the Nintendo Switch but they don’t have to be. While many hop into games like Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey for the look of the worlds, as much as the game play, anyone picking up Clubhouse Games is doing so for the 51 reasons you should buy this, not because of how any one of the games looks.
And to that end, it is obvious that Clubhouse Games won’t win awards for its graphics. Even games like bowling, golf, and fishing are pretty simplistic looking. That’s not to say that this game looks awful. It may be simplistic, but it still looks good in portable and on the TV. Nobody expects Clubhouse Games to look jaw dropping. The game does what it needs to do.
There isn’t much to report on this game music wise. Its kind of generic. It does have plenty of voice acting in the introductions though. The dialogue is very corny but I think the voice acting is well done. The sound effects in this game are nice too.
Despite issues with some of the controls, Clubhouse Games is a must own for the Nintendo Switch.
Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics is a collection that every Nintendo Switch owner should have downloaded onto their system. The wide range of games will keep you coming back to it long after you’ve finished every other game. And if you get tired of playing single player, you can always start a local multiplayer match or see whos online! Yes, the controls for some of the games are not perfect but Clubhouse Games is still a must own for Nintendo Switch.
