Wolfenstein 2 Nintendo Switch First Impressions

The Nintendo Switch has gotten some really mature third party games like Doom and Skyrim. And today, we got our first game for the Switch where we get to kill Nazis! The game I’m talking about is, of course, Wolfenstein 2. Its also from Bethesda like the games mentioned before and brought to the Switch by the same team that brought Doom to the system. I got a review code of the game today and have played it a little. What do I think of Wolfenstein 2 so far?!

Wolfenstein 2 for the Nintendo Switch is unlike any other game you’ll find on the system right now (even Doom). Wolfenstein is a first person shooter thats single player only. Not only that, but so far is been pretty heavy on cutscenes! Yes, you heard me right. The Nintendo Switch got a story focused first person shooter today!

I’m not too far into the game yet. I just started it today. Though I already have some thoughts on Wolfenstein 2.

First of all, I have no idea what is going on in this game. Oh ya, I get that you kill nazis. Lots of them! And that the game seems to be set in an alternate time line. Other than that, I have no clue who any of the main characters are or how they got invovled in this fight. Wolfenstein 2 seems to be connected to the previous Wolfenstein. I’ve never played that game. That game isn’t available on the Switch. For people who haven’t played the first Wolfenstein, prepare to be confused.

That said, Wolfenstein 2’s graphics are amazing. I should note I’ve only played it on portable so far and the graphics look great! I can’t wait to see how it looks on the TV.The cutscenes, especially, almost look like a movie (the voice acting seems good too). And the in-game graphics are pretty good too. This game is super detailed. I’m not sure yet, but Wolfenstein 2’s graphics could very well be the best we’ve seen on the Switch yet.

Meanwhile, the gameplay in Wolfenstein seems very typical of first person shooters so far. The gunplay is fast and furious. You get to kill a bunch of nazis. It feels so good! The controls are not that difficult to learn either. While I do find the game’s story confusing, there is nothing confusing about its gameplay: its straight forward first person shooting fun so far.

I’m looking forward to seeing where Wolfenstein 2 goes next. I’m hoping that I’ll become more attached to the story. I also hope I don’t get tired of the gameplay.
