Have you ever wished that your brother (or sister) would go away? You have?! You monster! I don’t have a brother or sister, so I’ve never been there. Max, the star of Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, wishes that his brother would go away and his brother is kidnapped by evil! Its your job, as Max, to get that brother back. But do you really want Max’s brother back? Is this really a video game that you want to play?
Max: The Curse of Brotherhood has a good story. I wouldn’t say its a Pixar level story, but the graphics and the voice acting do raise the story up to a higher level than it would be without them. I think kids especially will enjoy Max’s story. That said, parents and just adults in general will enjoy the gameplay on display here!
If Max: The Curse of Brotherhood was just a platformer, it would be a good game. However, the developers decided to put a bit of extra effort into Max’s gameplay!
The platforming in this game is very well done. Jumping is responsive and this game definitly has the platforming genre cliches, like crumbling platforms, down pat. As I said before though, Max is more than just a platformer.
At some point early on in the game, Max will get a weapon that allows him to create platforms, destroy them, and do many other cool things. Players can use button controls and in portable mode can use the touch screen to create things. The button controls are the most accurate way to use Max’s weapon though. The touch screen controls are pretty neat and when they work, they work well.
Though sometimes, when you touch on something, the game thinks your touching on something else. So the touch screen controls are not as accurate nor as good as I wish they were. That said, I’m very happy that this game has touch screen controls and there are many places in this game where I’m enjoyed them.
Max’s controls, in general, are pretty good. You can tell that the developers put a lot of effort into Max: The Curse of Brotherhood. This is definitly not as easy game. In fact, I do think it might be a little too hard for some young kids. Parents might want to team up with their kids and help them out on some of the tough puzzles. The Curse of Brotherhood doesn’t always offer up enough clues for many of the puzzles in this game. As an adult, I have struggled with some of the puzzles in this game! Two heads are better than one has never been more fitting. Too bad there’s no multiplayer option on this game!
Overall, Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is an excellent game. I think players of all-ages will enjoy this game. Some very young kids might need help. Some adults may even need help! But don’t let this game’s difficulty get in the way. Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is a fun game. And it totally looks like a cartoon that Pixar created!
Max: The Curse of Brotherhood has fantastic graphics. The cutscenes in this game are Pixar level. And I love how quickly cutscenes give way to gameplay and then back again. The transitions are nearly seamless. Also, the gameplay graphics are extremely detailed and amazing. Everything from the characters to the backgrounds are just so well fleshed out and feel alive. I love exploring Max’s world and I think players of all-ages will dig his world too.
Meanwhile, the music in Max doesn’t stand out as much as the graphics, but it is good. Even better is the voice acting in this game! Max and all of the characters in this game are brought to life by very talented voice acting. The sound effects in this game are pretty good too!
Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is a really well put together game.
If you love Pixar cartoons at all, then you need to play Max: The Curse of Brotherhood. The level of design and craft thats been put into this game is something that I think Disney Pixar would be proud of. Max is not perfect, it could stand to be a little be easier and have better touch controls, but overall if you are looking for a fun game to play you can’t go wrong with Max: The Curse of the Brotherhood!
