@AbdallahNation (Abdallah) at PaxSouth 2017

Friend of the site, Abdallah (Twitter, YouTube) was at PAX South over the last few days, and besides doing a panel, he was all over the floor checking out the Nintendo Switch. I would normally have numerous impressions for PAX (although I’m partial to PAX East because of my location!) I’m (fortunately…unfortunately?) on vacation for the next couple weeks. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

I know a lot of people are really hard on Nintendo for rereleasing Mario Kart 8 on the Nintendo Switch, but I think it is a brilliant idea, and I’m all in. This is coming from someone who has purchased it on the Wii U and bought the DLC as well! Regardless of that, I’m still stoked to have this again on my Switch. Why? Mario Kart 8 on the go! That is a huge selling feature for me. What do you think?

Splatoon 2

I hate to say it, but I am definitely a Splatoon 2 skeptic. To me, this just feels like Splatoon rehashed into something slightly different. Is Splatoon 2 just…Splatoon 1? I feel like it will be, but I’m sure Nintendo will find a way to prove me wrong. That being said, Nintendo did a GREAT job supporting Splatoon with lots of free content, and have promised much the same for Splatoon 2. I guess if you really enjoy the game, diving into the second iteration is probably a safe bet.

1-2 Switch

Once again, I’m skeptical that 1-2 Switch is going to grab my attention for more than a few minutes, but my wife and kids seemed pretty enthused about this collection of minigames. While I’m surprised that this is not a pack in title – like Wii Sports and Nintendo Land on previous Nintendo consoles – I did notice that it is coming in at a slightly lower price point than your average first party title. I guess 1-2 Switch does a great job showing off the hardware for the system, so at the least, its a great marketing tool for Nintendo, and at the most, it will be attractive enough to sell some units at retail.
