More Thoughts From Me #53: Another Dragon Quest Journey
I played Dragon Quest 8 when it was on the Playstation 2. I loved everything about the game, but I never did beat it. And now Dragon Quest 8 is on the 3DS. I bought the game on the portable and have been playing it a lot. What do I think of Dragon Quest 8 on the 3DS so far?
If you’ve ever been walking along in an rpg and saw a cool building or awesome lankmark on the world map (or elsewhere) and thought “Gee, I wish I could take a picture of that,” then Dragon Quest 8 for the 3DS is the game for you!
The new camera feature in Dragon Quest 8 is a blast. I’m addicted to it. Yes, there is a side quest that has you taking pictures of all kinds of landmarks and easter eggs in the game, but just taking a picture and sharing it online or via streetpass is fun. All of the pictures you’ll find in today’s column are pictures I took in the game!
Overall, Dragon Quest 8 hasn’t changed much since it was on PS2. The battle system is the same and traveling along the world map works the same. Though, thankfully, there are no random battles on the world map or dungeons! You’ll see the enemies on the world map/dungeons and be able to avoid them for the most part.
Dragon Quest 8 is a traditional rpg however and you’ll have to make sure to take the time to level up your characters. There is also lots of loot to find in the game and plenty of things to do.
The cast of Dragon Quest 8 is great and the story is one of the series best in my opinion. There’s just so much to see and do in this game!
If you’ve never played a Dragon Quest or even if you played this game on the PS2, you should get it for the 3DS. Rpg fans will absolutely love this game! I know I do!

Have you played Dragon Quest 8 for 3DS? What do you think of it?
Next week: I’ll talk about the NES Classic Edition. I still don’t have one. I’ve bought a lot of the games included on it for the Wii, Wii U, and 3DS. So why do I even want an NES Classic Edition?! I’ll look at that plus wonder if I actually will get my hands on one…
More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts provided here are mine and mine alone. Ok, now I’m going to go play more Dragon Quest 8!
