Formula Changing for LEGO Star Wars The Force Awakens

LegoStarWars

Travelers Tales has been making LEGO games for a very long time now, and although they have their peaks and valleys, we all know that generally, they make a really solid, family friendly game. The fact that they are going to mess with the original formula for The Force Awakens game is surprising, but yet expected. In an email from Warner Bros. today, we got a first hand look at what might be coming in the next LEGO game, slated to launch this summer.

· Blaster Battles – Players can now engage in intense Blaster Battles, seeking cover behind nearby objects and structures, which is a first for a LEGO game. Characters can then pop out from the safety of cover to fight enemies with blaster fire.

· Multi-Builds – The enhanced Multi-Builds system allows players to choose from multiple building options to solve a puzzle and advance the game in different ways. For the first time, the same pile of LEGO bricks can be used in multiple ways, with the player building and re-building different objects for different purposes.

· Flight Game Play – Experience the thrill of high-speed, action-packed flight game play like never before, piloting iconic vehicles (including the legendary Millennium Falcon) through arena-based battles and dogfights in space.

Traveler’s Tales has also launched a new trailer for the game which can be view below. I think making a move with a game like The Force Awakens is a great idea. Fans are going to buy this, there is no doubt about that. The Force Awakens was a HUGE box office hit, so any game with the tag line is likely to do wonderful numbers as well. To be fair, the developers really are taking baby steps with these new features, but they might be just big enough to make this LEGO game feel new and fresh.
