LEGO Dimensions Screenshots Surface

New screenshots have surfaced for LEGO Dimensions, showing of many of the environments that players will get to play through. At launch, Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment has stated that there will be 14 levels to play through with the starter package.

From Warner Bros:

Players can interact with most of the fan-favorite universes within LEGO Dimensions from the Starter Pack main game, no matter which characters, vehicles and gadgets they choose to play with, and with no additional purchase or expansion pack required.

This little bit of news is great to hear. LEGO Dimensions is coming in slightly more expensive – at least here in Canada – compared to the new Disney Infinity and Skylanders titles. The starter pack comes with three characters – Batman, Gandlaf, and Wyldstyle – and one vehicle, a Batman car. Players can use these characters to explore the city of Ninjago, Metropolis, Middle Earth, Hill Valley, and many more.

Here is more from Warner Bros. detailing how extra packs work in the game:

For players who want to further customize their game play experience, the characters, vehicles and gadgets from any of the LEGO Dimensions Level Packs, Team Packs and Fun Packs can be brought into any of the different level environments with no restrictions. The LEGO Dimensions Level Packs will provide players with an additional level to play of a given entertainment franchise, in addition to the 14 levels included in the main game.

Again, this sets LEGO Dimensions apart from something like Disney Infinity, where certain toys are limited to specific Playsets. This problem was rectified a little in Disney Infinity 2.0, but to play with other characters, players were first required to collect a number of badges with that persons picture on them. This is a hassle, especially when your five year old son just wants to play split screen with Spiderman and characters from Guardians of the Galaxy.

LEGO Dimensions launches September 27th in North America on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U. We have requested a review copy of the game and hope to have a review out around launch day.
