Nintendo speaks on amiibo Availability
People are beginning to realize that certain amiibo figures are harder to find than others, most notably Marth, Animal Crossing Villager, and the Wii Fit Trainer. No one really know whether or not these are limited run figures or not, but Nintendo finally spoke on the issue. From Nintendo of Canada PR:
Some amiibo were very popular at launch, and it is possible that some amiibo in the United States, Canada and Latin America may not be available right now due to high demand and our efforts to manage shelf space during the launch period. Certain sold-out amiibo may return to these markets at a later stage. We are continually aiming to always have a regular supply of amiibo in the marketplace and there are many waves of amiibo to come.
I wouldn’t fall for the 100.00+ eBay auctions just yet. This statement, while nice to receive, doesn’t quell any limited run fears, especially since the statement says “certain” sold-out amiibo may return. Regardless, it’s better to not support the hoarders in their endevour to make a quick buck on a popular Nintendo toy.
