Peppa Pig: World Adventures
Get ready to pack your bags because Peppa Pig: World Adventures takes the familiar charm of the beloved cartoon and sends it on a global tour, perfectly tailored for the youngest gamers on Xbox and other platforms. Having played My Friend Peppa Pig I was excited for this adventure. It invites preschoolers to create their own unique animal character and family, then join Peppa herself on exciting trips around the globe.
Jumping up and down in muddy puddles
Designed with toddlers and preschoolers in mind, the controls are incredibly simple, usually just moving left or right and pressing a single button like ‘A’ on the Xbox controller when prompted to interact in the world. Having it simple allows even very young children to play independently with minimal assistance, fostering a sense of accomplishment. However, even adults will enjoy it like I did.
Players travel with Peppa to various famous locations, including New York City, London, Paris, Italy, Australia, Germany, and more. Each location offers simple, themed activities: making pizza in Italy the best part for me, sightseeing at the Eiffel Tower or Empire State Building, playing dress-up, riding bikes, sailing a ship, and, of course, jumping in muddy puddles. You can also customize your family’s home with souvenirs collected on your travels which is a nice touch.
Peppa Pig: World Adventures was spot on in recreating the distinct art style and atmosphere of the Peppa Pig television show. With bright colours, simple lines, and character animations feel like you’re controlling an interactive episode, which is a huge draw for fans. Voice acting is generally good, capturing the characters’ personalities, but it would have been nice to have the original actors.
Easy one button fun for everyone
Peppa Pig: World Adventures excels at providing simple, engaging, and non-challenging fun within the familiar Peppa Pig universe. While being broken down into distinct location episodes that last approximately twenty minutes or so, it’s perfect for short attention spans. Kids delight in creating their own character, exploring recognisable places, and participating in the easy-to-understand activities. It gently introduces landmarks and concepts from different countries.
Peppa Pig: World adventures on Xbox is an excellent choice as a first video game for preschoolers, especially those who adore the TV show. It successfully translates the look, feel, and gentle humour of Peppa’s world into an interactive format that young children can easily navigate and enjoy independently. It’s cute, colourful, incredibly accessible, and feels like playing right alongside Peppa. While too shallow and short for anyone older but not for me, for its intended audience, it’s a delightful and well-executed virtual trip around the world. I can’t wait to see where they go with this franchise.
