Achievements and Trophies Why We Want Them

Today’s video games are defined by achievements, accomplishments, and more. Whether it is achievements points like are dolled out on the Xbox One, or trophies on the PlayStation 4, people want to be rewarded for their accomplishments in games. While some companies – namely Nintendo – haven’t jumped onto this bandwagon yet, others have, including Google and Apple, through their mobile gaming platforms. People want to feel like they are accomplishing something, and most games today give them that satisfaction.…

Get to the Fallout Shelter: A Preview of 60 Seconds for Nintendo Switch

Long ago, in a galaxy not so far away (the United States), people thought that the atomic bomb would drop on them at any second. So some of those people built fallout shelters. This is something that really happened. However, the bomb never dropped in the U.S. In the video game 60 Seconds for the Nintendo Switch though, the atomic bomb will hit in…you guessed it…60 Seconds. And so as the head of the household its your duty to grab…

Xbox One X Coverage: ARK: Survival Evolved Looks Fantastic

I've been a long-time fan of ARK: Survival Evolved, and when Xbox released users statistics for 2017, it was no surprise to me that ARK was my most played game this year. The big draw to me for ARK is the gameplay, being able to jump into a game with friends, building crazy structures, taming a legion of dinosaurs, and exploring a huge open world is more important to me than graphical superiority. For the longest time - especially when the game was still in early access - it didn't look great, and at times, it handled even worse. Over this weekend I loaded up ...

New Far Cry 5 Trailer: The Resistance

Far Cry 5 is Ubisoft's next highly anticipated title in the Far Cry series, and this time around, the developers are tagging America as its playground for some crazy, over the top mayhem. The early looks and videos of Far Cry have been spectacular, detailing a bit of the back story - a religious cult attempting to take over America - as well as some of the gameplay, which surprisingly includes fishing. Today, Ubisoft released yet another trailer for the game title, "The Resistance."

Do UK fruit slots follow the same payouts as American slots?

In the UK, it’s claimed that most of the machines are set at 95 percent and there’re many to pay out less as 70 percent in certain pubs. So the odds are worst of all. It’s a type of row of them in the corner of a UK pub that’s the ability to make a landlord more money than that of beer sales but in the US, all the games must payout but not less than 75 percent by law.…

First Impressions – BlackBerry Motion Smart Phone

A box arrived from BlackBerry Canada yesterday, and I wasn't entirely sure what to expect of the contents. I knew the BlackBerry Motion and the BlackBerry KEYone were launched in 2017, and that BlackBerry was planning on sending me one for review. Outside of that, however, I didn't know what to expect. My last foray into the BlackBerry world was with the BlackBerry Classic, which I used almost exclusively for business purposes. At that time, I was rocking two cellphones: one for work, one for my personal use. The system worked, but handling two phones at once ...

Tear Down That Fourth Wall: A Look At Yooka-Laylee’s Writing

I’ve said again and again in my reviews of platformers that these types games usually don’t have good stories. In general, the writing in platformers is anywhere from “well, its a fun game” to “cringe, cringe, cringe”. There are exceptions to that rule though, such as Ratchet & Clank and Super Paper Mario. And awhile Yooka-Laylee for Nintendo Switch doesn’t have as good a story as Ratchet & Clank or Super Paper Mario, it does have excellent dialogue! Warning: there…
