Amiibo are currently shaping up to be one of Nintendo’s best ideas in years. With the holiday season rapidly approaching, Nintendo couldn’t have launched their new toy line at a better time. Nintendo recently announced that over 700,000 amiibo have been sold in the U.S. alone and that the gaming giant is projected to make $1 billion in U.S. market in amiibo sales as Tomoaki Kawasaki, a Tokyo-based analyst with Iwai Cosmo Securities Co., told Bloomberg.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker finally gives Toad his own Mario Kingdom platform to garner a larger fan base for himself; he does almost everything right in his first, Toad-centric adventure. While Captain Toad doesn't carry the hefty price tag of some of Nintendo's other franchises, there is plenty of content here to justify a 39.99 USD price tag. If you are looking for something other than Smash Bros to play this holiday season, you may want to grab a copy of Captain Toad and kick back on the couch for this 10-12 hour adventure.

Nintendo isn't known for branching out and trying new things. They milk their franchises, and not in a bad way. If you want to be a huge hit in the indie world, your best bet is to move to Sweden. At least it feels like that is where all the good games are coming from right now. This week will be no different, as SteamWorld Dig, already available on multiple platforms including the 3DS, will receive an additional release on Nintendo's Wii U console.All I need to tell you is that it is worth it.

The 3DS has been a great device for playing puzzle games, from the very popular Professor Layton franchise to the Pushmo series. The Wii U also has a fair share of stylus specific games, but it wasn't until Pushmo World was released that I finally took the plunge with one of them. It has been well worth it!

At its heart, Shovel Knight is a platformer that echoes the NES classics of Mega Man, Duck Tales, Zelda 2, and Super Mario Bros. 3, then takes everything that works well within those games and throws away the tedium that can become infuriating.

It has been a long wait. It seems like years since we received our first screens, months since that detailed, energetic Nintendo Direct... Now, it will only be a little over a week before we can all play it. It's almost Mario Kart time, and it just cannot seem to come fast enough. I had zero desire to sit down and write this up. I don't want to tell you about Mario Kart, I don't want to discuss Mario Kart, and I definitely don't want to waste valuable time editing anything about Mario Kart.

April Fools Day always provides a number of fun Internet gags. One of the most high profile jokes this year was from Google, and it involved Pokemon. Using Google Maps, players could search for all original 150 Pokemon and become a Pokemon Master. They even went as far as to 'promise' a position in the company for anybody that could Catch 'em all. Although the job was a farce, the game was real and playable. This prank from Google made me think about where Pokemon is at and where it is going.
