The Last Of Us

The story in The Last of Us wasn't great. Before you jump to the comment section, hungry to avenge your favourite title for that huge slight, let me clarify. The characters and their interactions were unparalleled, the world and its history certainly capable of being built into something that spans prequels, sequels and spin-offs.

If you thought The Last of Us was some niche stealth title enjoyed only by you and your Dark Souls loving hardcore brethren, you were completely wrong. Sony have today announced that The Last of Us, Naughty Dogs huge new IP, has sold over six million units, and that numbers only going to continue to sky rocket.

There's a Last of Us film in the works, and since it's been announced fans have been wondering just how it's going to go down. Their favourite game hitting the silver screen is a big deal, and, as has been proven time and time again before, it could very easily go wrong. One thing might make those dedicated few feel better (or even worse), however: the film will be an adaptation of the game.

Sony and Naughty Dog have today announced that they'll be bringing The Last of Us to cinemas. No information about the actual adaptation has been released, although fans will be happy to know Naughty Dog are keeping hold of the reigns to make sure things don't end up completely sucking. Screen Gems (Resident Evil, Underworld) has been brought on as distributor, while Neil Druckmann, creative director on the game, will be writing the script. Naughty Dog co-presidents Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra will act as "creative architects."

Worried that Valentine's Day just wasn't going to be special enough? Forget the notion: Naughty Dog have announced that their first piece of story-based DLC for their 2013 blockbuster The Last of Us will be released on February 14th. Apologise to your significant others, it seems that candlelit dinner for two will have to be postponed.

There has been a specific change in the way Naughty Dog are answering questions about a potential Last of Us port to PlayStation 4. Coincidence, or are they really paying attention to the thousands asking for a 60FPS, full HD version of the best selling Sony exclusive? If it'll sell...

It's nothing to sniff at, but everything Naughty Dog are working on has been announced. There's no secret Last of Us 2 being built behind closed doors, no Jak 4 on the horizon. This was revealed at the PlayStation Blog when somebody asked whether they would be bringing anything to Vita. The answer was fairly final.

Last Of Us, one of the best games to be released this year, will be receiving a discount during the 12 Days Of Christmas sales on the PS Store.

Naughty Dog’s Eric Monacelli has said that there a PlayStation 4 version of The Last of Us is not in development, and, in fact, there are “no plans” to release a next-gen version of the critical hit. This will disappoint quite a few people who were looking to double dip, although there’s no doubt at some point The Last of Us will be playable on PS4 (either through a 1080p/60FPS re-release, or via Gaikai). Naughty Dog have released a video showing an alternative ending to their critical and commercial hit, The Last of Us. Don't worry purists, there's little here that'll ruin the quiet integrity of that ending, but it's all a bit of good fun nonetheless.
