Ever since Steam announced that they'd be announcing three things very shortly, there has been a lot of theorizing. Some of it has been based on actual evidence - Left 4 Dead 3 showing up in a picture from Valve HQ for instance - and some of it has been a little less... scientific - OH MY GOD, THERE ARE THREE ANNOUNCEMENTS, HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED. It seems those ideas are wrong, however, as Marc Laidlaw confirms that the three announcements are specifically about Steam.

There's been something of a mini-controversy on Steam this last weekend. Fallout 3 has been on sale and it seems to have sold so many copies that Steam actually ran out of keys so that people could actually play their game. As of writing it still seems people are getting error messages and are unable to access their new purchase. Of course, Fallout 3 is still available to buy.

While Bioshock 2 received some rather mixed reaction from fans of the original, I've never heard a bad thing about Minerva's Den, with maybe one exception. It never made it to Steam. That seems about to change. Minerva's Den has appeared in the Steam Registry. It'll be available for download individually, playable with your copy of Bioshock 2, or it'll be bundled up with the full game for those that have never played either.

Mike Bithell, creator of Thomas Was Alone tweeted some interesting insights into the sales figures of Steam content during the summer sale. It seems sales might be going through the roof. The Steam Summer sale has started today, had you heard? Everybody else had heard as well, and as soon as the countdown timer above Alice: Madness Return his 0:00:00, Steam was forced to give up under the weight of hundreds of thousands clamouring to see what bargains might be on offer.

It’s that time of the year again, everybody. Take out your wallets and spend, spend, spend. The Steam Summer sale is now live, and although you’ll no doubt have problems getting onto the service for ten or fifteen minutes after 6, it’ll be more than worth the wait. There's an awful lot of evidence pointing to tomorrow being the beginning of the famous Summer Steam sale. Some of it has been going around for weeks, with database updates and current sales ending abruptly pointing to the fact that something is going on, and it's happening tomorrow.
