Hockey is a religion in Canada. Unlike in the United States, where football, baseball, and basketball compete for viewers, Canadians universally place hockey above everything else. So it is no surprise that EA Sports NHL franchise continues to be developed in beautiful British Columbia, and the group there continues to innovate.

With one press conference down, and a few more to go, it appears as if downloadable content is going to once again be a big thing at E3 2014. DLC comes with its own praises and criticisms, but in general, it is a idea that has worked out for both developers and gamers. Developers can extend the life of their titles while also gaining more revenue, while players get more content for the games they love. There are a few issues that have always, and will always, surround DLC.

Today Battlefield Hardline showed up at E3. I’ve not been a huge fan of the franchise, but this game immediately caught my attention. Hardline combines the gameplay of Battlefield with the well-known ‘catch me if you can’ game mode. The result seems to be a fast paced shooter with many decisions which can influence the outcome.

After a successful release on PC earlier this year, the free-to-play third person shooter Loadout is making its way onto PS4. Loadout will be a console exclusive, only appearing on PS4 and the already released PC version.

Warner Brothers have today announced the next entry in the Mortal Kombat series. Mortal Kombat X is the long-awaited follow-up to the semi-reboot Mortal Kombat 9, which was really a a remake of sorts of the first three titles in the franchise. Where will they go next? Thankfully, we won't have to wait long to find out, with details due to come out during E3.

After just over two years in development delay limbo, to it's eventual release just two days ago, Watch dogs has been hyped as one of the big new IPs to watch out for (excuse the terrible pun).

It was always pretty obvious that Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare would end up on PlayStation devices. I'm not sure Popcap or EA ever denied it either. The franchise has long been a multiplatformer, regardless of any temporary exclusivity deals that might have been in place. Well, a new Tweet from the official EA account hints that the family-friendly shooter will be available on PS3 and PS4 sooner than expected.

Tecmo Koei Europe announced today that the latest in the Warriors Orochi series is currently in development. Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate is coming to PS3, PS4, PSVita and the Xbox One and contains the full Warriors Orochi 3, as well as new stories and features. It is the first in the series to be released on the flagship PS4 and Xbox One systems.

Following on from the recent delay of six months for The Elder Scrolls Online on the Xbox One and PS4, an interview with creative director Paul Sage on IGN has cast doubt over whether or not it will be released before the end of the year.

In a recent post on mojang.com, creative writer Owen Hill has posted that a "slightly improved" version of Minecraft is on its way to Xbox One, PS4 and PS Vita this August.
