Pokémon has been something I've loved since I was in grade school and it was the hot new item on the block. Every once in a while, The Pokémon Company comes out with something a bit different to commemorate a certain event, or just to surprise long time fans. Although the Pokémon X and Y collection seems like a thing of the past - especially with all the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon collections that have been released - Nintendo has resurrected the XY franchise with the Pokémon Premium XY Trainer's Collection box tin. Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon are coming to retail next month, and The Pokémon Company continues to release new and exciting information about the release. While many have expressed scepticism over whether or not another title in the same Alolan region will work well, we here at GamesReviews are always excited to get our hands on new Pokémon games. Black 2 and White 2 were great titles, so why shouldn't these one be!

In a press release sent out earlier this week, the Pokémon Company detailed some new premium cards that will be coming to retail very soon, and will have a full review of the new sets soon when they arrive! The Pokémon Trainers XY Collection will include 12 more full art cards, a metal coin - remember, most other packages include plastic coins! - and much more! If you didn't get to see the Nintendo Direct from yesterday, do yourself a favour and hop over to the Nintendo YouTube page and watch it, or see the video below. One of the coolest announcements during that direct was the unveiling of a brand new, Pokeball designed New Nintendo 2DS XL. On top of that, new details were provided for the upcoming Pokémon titles heading to the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.

As quickly as one Pokémon expansion hits retail, another gets announced, and for fans of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, this is fantastic news. The Pokémon Company has continued to provide fans with products to purchase, collections to expand, and the ability to create an even more diverse and unique deck, all using Pokémon Sun and Moon monsters. On October 6th, The Pokémon Company will release the third expansion for Pokémon Sun and Moon: Shinning Legends.

Over the last week, and basically ever since The Pokémon Company sent over a box of the latest Pokémon Sun and Moon expansion, I've been using the pre-maid Burning Shadows decks to play a number of rounds with my seven year old son. We would swap decks often to keep things a bit fresh, but never once deviated from what The Pokémon Company placed in the boxes. On the whole, things were pretty balanced; although I won more often than my son, it was often chalked up too more experience, rather than better card types.

Dusk Form Lycanroc is coming to Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, and will be a downloadable 'freebie' for those who pick up the game between its release date on November 17, 2017 and January 10, 2018. Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon will extend the gameplay of the original Pokémon Sun and Pokémon moon with new exclusive Pokémon, a new story, and some new areas to explore. We are really looking forward to this holiday release, and will have a review ahead of launch up on the website.

The next expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game launches today, and we are really excited about it. Thanks to our friends at the Pokémon Company, we were able to check out some of the Burning Shadows product a bit ahead of launch, and showed off a number of the cards via my Twitter account!
