GameCube Coming to Nintendo Switch Online
Another system is being added to Nintendo Switch Online – that’s right, Nintendo GameCube will be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2 along with a brand new Nintendo GameCube wireless controller. There’s a bit to dig into here, so let’s talk about it.
First and foremost, the release of the Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is probably enough confirmation that we won’t be getting a remaster of that game anytime soon on Nintendo Switch 2. Is it a guarantee? Not necessarily, but in their Quick Look at games that would be coming to Nintendo Switch Online, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door did not appear, likely because it is available as a Switch release. Using that logic, it’s unlikely The Wind Waker will be coming anytime soon, if at all. It is worth noting, though, that Super Mario Sunshine did appear on the video and it also is part of a Switch collection. So all we can say, I suppose, is time will tell?
But onto other things – bringing Nintendo GameCube games to the platform is outstanding – I’m really hopeful that Mario Kart: Double Dash will be making it’s way to the platform sooner rather than later. There’s so many great Nintendo GameCube games that could be released – I’ve never been more excited about Nintendo Switch Online!

The new controller looks great as well! It will include the new Chat “C” button which exciting, and will be available exclusively to Nintendo Switch Online members. This will all be available when the Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5, 2025.
