Telltale and Mojang Announce Minecraft: Story Mode
Telltale and Mojang have announced Minecraft: Story Mode, a standalone game and narrative driven adventure coming to just about everything in 2015.
The game was announced by Telltale and Mojang, with players invited to check out Info Quest II, an interactive reveal that takes the form of a short RPG.
From Telltale’s blog:
Telltale’s game series will mix new characters with familiar themes, in an entirely original Minecraft experience, inspired by the Minecraft community and the game that continues to inspire a generation.
There’s no reason to think that Story Mode will involve any of the already “established” characters of the Minecraft universe. Telltale – which is best known for The Walking Dead and its revival of some of the old LucasArts IPs – isn’t famous for its gameplay mechanics, so the mixing of their traditional adventure style and the Minecraft gameplay will be interesting.
The title will be released episodically, with the first hitting in 2015. Fans should expect the game some time towards the latter half of the year, and as late as November or December.
No word on pricing or even gameplay details, but this title’s very existence is something that makes it worth watching.
Minecraft has sold millions of copies without any specific storyline.
