More Thoughts From Me: Top Ten Games of 2024

2024 has been such a great year for video games. There’s just been so many amazing games. So let’s talk about my top 10 games of this year.

There have been a lot of great games this year. I got to play most of the games I wanted to play. So I wanted to share my top 10 games of 2024. Some notes first:

Metaphor isn’t on the following list. I played the demo and loved it but never got to play the full game. I also played and loved the demo for Fantasian but didn’t get to play the full game. I should also mention Mario & Luigi: Brothership. I mention those three games because I feel like if I had played them, I’m sure they’d be on the list. I think Metaphor and Fantasian might be very high on the list.

I also don’t have a PS5 so I didn’t get to play Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth or Astrobot. If I had a PS5, I’m sure that those games would be high on the list too.

That all said, I played tons of great games this year and these are my top 10 games of 2024:

10. My Sims Cozy Bundle: I loved My Sims on the Wii and so when it was announced for the Switch, I was really excited. And I thought it would be cool to give My Sims Kingdom another try. Both games turned out to be excellent on the Switch and I’m glad to have them.

9. Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind: When I was a kid, I was a huge Mighty Morphin Power Rangers fan. I also liked side scrolling beat ‘em ups a lot too. Fast forward to now: we got a Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers beat ‘em up from Digital Eclipse and it’s a fantastic game.

8. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown: Ubisoft brought Prince of Persia back this year in style. This 2D Metroidvania Persia game is so much fun. In a year of amazing games, this one would be easy to miss but you shouldn’t skip it! Its so good.

7. Tetris Forever: If you’ve ever loved Tetris or if you’ve never played it before (is that possible?!) then you should absolutely get this collection. Digital Eclipse has put together another great collection.

6. Epic Mickey Rebrushed: Another classic Wii game came to Switch this year. Epic Mickey is still a lot of fun and the graphics look better than ever.

5. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden: It seems like this game was overlooked this year and it’s a shame. Banishers had such a great story, fantastic graphics, and fun gameplay. If you love games with the supernatural and ghosts, you should check this out!

4. Dungeons of Hinterberg: I gave this one a 10 out of 10. Dungeons of Hinterberg is an absolute joy: from its cel-shaded graphics, unique dungeons to explore and more. If you gamepass, you should be downloading this one right now. If you don’t, you should buy. This game shouldn’t be missed.

3. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D: Dragon Quest is my favorite rpg series and then you add HD-2D to it and you get the best game in that genre yet. Everything about this game is so good. From the graphics to the classical turn-based gameplay, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D is so very good.

2. Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom: I love The Legend of Zelda and so this had to be my second favorite game of the year. It was neat getting to play as Zelda for the first time in this series, the echoes were cool, and it was so much fun.

1. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: I thought I’d like this game but I had no idea that I’d love it this much.  The Great Circle’s story is better than the last two movies, the gameplay is fantastic, and the graphics during cutscenes feel almost like a movie and during gameplay it feels like you’re in Indy’s world. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is absolutely my game of the year!

2024 was such an excellent gaming year. Next year looks like it might be even better, if that’s possible. Stay tuned because next week I’ll talk about what I’m looking forward to in 2025.
