More Thoughts From Me #47: My Games of the Year
As you probably know by now, I’m only a Wii U and 3DS gamer. So the following list of year favorites will only come from those systems. What were my favorite games this year? Read on to find out!
The year is drawing to a close and with every end of the year, comes reflection on ones favorite games of the year. Here are a few of the games that I loved this year!
Paper Mario Color Splash
If you read my review of Color Splash (link), then you know that I really loved this game. I’ve gave it a 10 out of 10. I have never (bold) given a game that score before. The gameplay, graphics, sound, story, everything about Color Splash makes this game great. If you love the Paper Mario series and haven’t played this game yet, you are really missing out!
Steamworld Heist
Image & Form created another great game with Heist. I’ve played this game on both the Wii U and 3DS now. Everything about Heist great, especially the tactical gameplay! What will Image & Form’s next game be? I’m not sure, but I know I can’t wait to play it. Till then, I’ll definitely be revisiting Steamworld Heist a lot.
Animal Crossing New Leaf – Welcome amiibo
Some may agrue that this isn’t a new game, but the new update to New Leaf has really revived the game! More than just amiibo support was added to New Leaf -we got a new area to explore, daily vans, new cards with new animals, and other little changes that make New Leaf feel like a brand new game. Welcome amiibo is definitly one of my favorite games of this year.
Oddworld: New N’ Tasty
I loved the first Oddworld on the Playstation 1. So it was real treat earlier this year to review the updated version of the game! The developer of New N’Tasty improved everything about the game: from the graphics to the gameplay, New N’Tasty was a lot of fun. So great to see this series make an appearance on the Wii U too!
Dragon Quest 7
I love rpgs and Dragon Quest 7 was definitely one of my favorites this year! You can check out my review here. I had so much fun with this game. I will, without a doubt, be playing this game again sometime. For now, I’m looking forward to playing Dragon Quest 8 early next year!
Word Puzzles by POWGI and the other Lightwood Games
Check out my review of Word Puzzles by POWGI. This was such a good game. I especially loved the support of amiibo for the game! Both the Wii U and 3DS versions were good. But thats not the only game developed by Lightwood that I liked. Throughtout the year, they have been giving us a lot of fun word games! I also really enjoyed Splat the Difference, which was a very different game for them. I can’t wait to see what Lightwood does next.
Level 22
Solid Snake gets a day job at an office. Well, ok, not really. But Gary, the main star of Level 22, has to sneak into work. The stealth gameplay in this game is fun and the graphics, story, and sound combine to make this a really fun game! You shouldn’t miss it! For more information about this game, check out my review!
Pokken Tournament
I’m not a Pokemon fan, however I really enjoyed Pokken Tournament! The fighting gameplay here is just a lot of fun and the graphics are great too. I never thought I’d score a Pokemon game so high. If you like fighting games, you’ll probably love this game whether you’re a Pokemon fan or not. I know I do!
And so many more games! I know I’m forgetting some great games I played. I played so many cool indie and Nintendo games this year. I feel very lucky to be a reviewer and get to play some fun games. I’ve played and liked some games that I probably would have never bought on my own (like Pokken). What a great time to be a gamer.
