Was Bayonetta Raped? Kamiya Responds
The question of whether Bayonetta was raped in both games is one that hasn’t come about until today. It’s not used as a plot point, and there’s no even any real indication of the act, and yet today there was a serious discussion as to whether it happened.
Neogaf users picked over video and gifs of a move performed by Rodin in both Bayonetta 1 and 2. Boss Rodin grabs the witch and the screen fades to white. When the picture returns, Bayonetta lies naked on the floor and Rodin smokes a cigar before the fight continues.
Bayonetta jumps straight back into the fray, her magical hair covering her back up when the player takes control.
It’s an unusual scene, but only by implication. Nothing untoward happens on screen and, outside of a certain leap to conclusion, there’s no reason to think there was some kind of hidden rape.
The discussion was enough for Bayonetta creator Hideki Kamiya to reply to the theories, and he is firm that it was not supposed to be rape.

That’s Rodin’s lethal blow, so Bayo loses all her power temporarily. Nothing’s weird. RT @NarettRoman
