The Next Sonic Game Could Be Called Runners

With Sonic Boom not quite on shelves, it might be a little early to talk about where the franchise is going next. Even so, a possible SEGA leaker may have just shone a light on where the road may take the Blue Blur.

A few months ago, a user started posting to 4chan’s /v/ with more than a few strong suggestions about Sonic Boom, suggestions that have since been proven 100% spot on. Either this person had played an early build of Boom or he was a developer. Either way, he knew far more than the average fan, including information about characters that hadn’t even been confirmed to be making appearances.

He also posted that the next game in the franchises already had a name: Sonic Runners.

Now that’s about as much information as the person gave, but from that there’s a few things that you might be able to guess towards. Obviously, speed is going to be a factor, but to what extent? Should we expect another racing game? Is it a hint towards features or just another vaguely terrible name?

Until it’s officially confirmed, it’s best not to get too in love with hypothesising, but it’s out there, and it could well be a hint towards something bigger.
