PlayStation 4 EU Launch Apps Revealed
Sony have revealed the apps that’ll be available on the PlayStation 4 when it launches later this week. Those hoping to completely replace their PlayStation 3 will be happy to know that all the major ones are there day one, and that there will be a lot more available to download between now and Spring 2014.
Firstly, the list:
- Music Unlimited (UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Australia and New Zealand)
- Video Unlimited (Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK)
- IGN (Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Qatar, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UAE, UK)
- BBC iPlayer (UK)
- VidZone (Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK)
- Amazon/LOVEFiLM (Germany, UK)
- Netflix (Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, UK)
- BBC Sports (UK)
- BBC News (UK)
- Wuaki.tv (Spain)
- Total Channel (Spain)
- Demand5 (UK)
- Maxdome (Germany, Austria)
- RTBF (Belgium)
- NOS Sports (Netherlands)
- Ximon (Belgium, Netherlands)
- Watchever (Germany)
- Viaplay (Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden)
Releasing 4th December:
- Quickflix (Australia, New Zealand)
A lot of the big apps are there, specifically the iPlayer and Netflix for the UK. It’s nice to see Demand5 as well, although it’s presence as a launch app makes the lack of catch-up TV for ITV and Channel 4 all the more conspicuous.
Still, this is a very nice start, and I know that I for one will be able to replace 90% of my PS3 non-gaming tasks with PS4 equivalents.
