LEGO The Hobbit Hitting Stores Next Year
Warner Bros. have today announced LEGO The Hobbit, a new LEGO game based in the world of Peter Jackson’s latest epic fantasy trilogy. If LEGO Lord of the Rings is anything to go by, there’ll be more than enough reference to JRR Tolkien’s one-film-max 1937 novel as well.
Unfortunately, the developers have settled on only dealing with the first two films in the trilogy. Hopefully they have decent plans for the last part, if only as relatively cheap DLC a little closer to December 2014.
That shouldn’t stop this from being a fairly exciting (if predictable) expansion to the LEGO franchise. As with other games, if you own any gaming device from the last 6 years, you should be able to play it. LEGO The Hobbit will be released on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, PC and Mac in Spring 2014.
From the press release:
“We are thrilled to depict the characters and environments of Peter Jackson’s Middle-earth in LEGO form with the LEGO The Hobbit videogame,” said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. “Our family-friendly take on these thrilling adventures will have kids and parents playing and laughing together as they build and explore in LEGO Middle-earth.”
It seems like it’ll be built in a similar way to LEGO Lord of the Rings – different levels, with hubs connecting them – so expe
