Farming Simulator 25 Launching with Brand New Crops

The Farming Simulator franchise is one of my favorites to play on my PlayStation 5, and we are on the cusp – or perhaps when you are reading this it’s already here – of the game launching on Xbox, PlayStation and PC. I couldn’t be more excited for another iteration of Farming Simulator as it has been a few years now since the last release.

One thing you can guarantee yourself when purchasing Farming Simulator – whether via mods or official updates from Giants Software, the game gets frequent updates including new features, maps, tractors and more. Giants live for their Farming Simulator franchise, and the game has only gotten better and better as time has gone by. Although for some, upgrading from 22 to 25 might not be necessary, but for those who want the latest and greatest that Farming Simulator has to offer, this new release is packed with new stuff!

There are three maps players will be able to dive into, based in America, Europe, and Asia. The items you start with on each farm varies – for example, you’ll start with a few cows on the America’s map, and start with rice paddies on the Asia map. Regardless of which map you play, you will get more detailed towns, villages, cities and more. The world around you is promised to be more lively as well, and based on pre-release videos, that seems to be very true.

However, it is the new things on offer that has me the most excited about this year’s release. Rice is a big addition in 25, both regular rice and long grain rice. While both use flooded paddies for growing, they are put into the ground and harvested in distinctly different ways. So while we are technically just getting one new “type” of food – rice – there will be two ways to plant and harvest that rice.

New this year is also green beans and spinach, both of which require new machinery to harvest. Spinach, specifically, is a great new crop because if you plant it correctly, you can get two yields from one plant cycle! There are loads of other things I’m looking forward to seeing myself, including dynamic weather with real-world extreme weather conditions like tornadoes, terrain that deforms from machinery, improved driving physics, and more!
