Bioshock, Grand Theft Auto V Highlight Spike VGX Awards

VGX Logo

The nominees for Spike VGX awards have been announced, with Grand Theft Auto V receiving the most nominations. Formerly known as Spike Video Game Awards, VGX will take place on December 7th, this time giving the fans a chance to voice their opinion by voting for their favorites on the official website. Gamers will also be able to dictate the outcome of one category: “Most Anticipated Game.”

These Spike awards have always been hit and miss with the gaming crowd, mainly because they just don’t feel official, unlike the Grammy’s, Emmy’s or the Academy Awards. Controversial selections, like games that haven’t even been released, and awkward presentations given by the hosts and guests are also to blame for fans being cynical about the whole event. Regardless, it’s another way for video games to continue to garnish mainstream appeal, and for lesser-known titles (especially those in the indie category) to get their time in the sun.
