Big Releases Incoming from Nintendo
Some of Nintendo’s biggest biggest franchises are landing on the Wii U within the next couple weeks, and we have been playing them all. While reviews will go live prior to the launch of each title, we have broken them down for you below so you can make an informed buying decision.
Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash: I played Mario Tennis for the first time at Nintendo of Canada’s post E3 media event. I really enjoyed what I played. I wouldn’t say it was ground breaking in anyway, or that this is a must buy. But for Nintendo gamers who often have people over to play, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash might be a must-have game to add to your Nintendo arsenal. The game can comfortably be played with up to four players, and it has all the fun, Mario Kingdom wackiness you come to expect from a Nintendo sports titles. Big hits, power ups, and great celebration routines are only a few of the things you can expect if you decide to launch Mario Tennis on November 20th.
Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon: Be warned now. The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series is definitly not for everyone, nor is it a traditional Pokemon game. In these games, players are turned into Pokemon and dropped into the game. You interact with other Pokemon on your journey – either friendly or hostile – striving to help the locals with their problems and restore piece to the region. Dungeons throughout the game are randomly generated, which means no dungeon will EVER play the same way twice. There is no memorization of secret exits or great loot drops. It is all random. Some people will like it, some people won’t. Our review will go live on the 19th, one day before you can pick up Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon on 3DS.
Xenoblade Chronicles X: When Xenoblade Chronicles was released on the 3DS, I gave the game a really great score despite the fact that I personally wasn’t a huge fan of it. I pointed out the major issues: there is a lot going on for such a small screen. Despite not being a huge fan of the 3DS title, I eagerly jumped into Xenoblade Chronicles X the first day it arrived in our office. Two things to note: this game takes patience – lots and lots of patience – and is absolutely HUGE. Our first piece of pre-launch advice: when you finally get your copy, read the manual. It will save you a lot of stress! Look out for our review of Xenoblade Chronicles X before launch day, December 5, 2015.
These are the big three coming from Nintendo in the next few weeks. Nintendo has been releasing great titles since the beginning of Fall, and it only will continue into 2016 with the launch of the new Paper Mario / Mario and Luigi series that is due out in January. On top of that, although we haven’t received a review copy for Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival, it is really, REALLY fun with friends. I’m having a blast playing it with my kids as well!
