Wii U Deluxe Ditches Nintendo Land, Now Offers New Super Mario Bros. U
The black, 32GB Wii U Deluxe no longer comes with Nintendo Land, and is now being packaged with New Super Mario Bros. U. As an added bonus, it also comes with New Super Luigi Bros. U, which was originally released as downloadable content over the Summer.
Nintendo Land, while never receiving praise like the Wii’s pack-in game Wii Sports, was a nifty little game that featured mini-games starring famous Nintendo characters. While not a great launch title, it did what it was supposed to do: show off the Wii U’s GamePad and provide entertainment for groups of friends and families. That said, Mario and Luigi U is an outstanding replacement, and it wouldn’t be surprising if consumers became more interested in the system now that it comes with a recognizable franchise game. If you really want to play Nintendo Land, though, it’s available on the eShop for $29.99.
Initially we reported that this latest bundle was an exclusive bundle just for the Holidays, but obviously now this isn’t the case. This could be a decent season for Nintendo as we head into November. With these new console bundles, especially that sweet Wind Waker HD pack, and promising end-of-the-year game lineup, things could get interesting for the Big N. They probably won’t be able to compete with the next-gen console launches, but things might be looking up for them by the end of the year.
