SEGA Ports Petition Attracts 12,000
PC gaming never really died, despite a lot of conversation to the contrary. No, it was just that certain publishers forgot that there were a lot of waiting fans interested in playing the latest console release on their PC. That’s now changed, with franchises like Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy hitting Steam on an almost weekly basis. No doubt spurned on by recent successes, a large group of gamers are campaigning to have SEGA release titles like Valkyria Chronicles on the PC, and they’re getting a lot of support.
The petition, which was published on Change.org, also calls for Bayonetta, Virtua Fighter and Vanquish, as well as titles like Yakuza and Catherine.
From the petition:
Over the years you’ve compiled a commendable back catalog of some of the highest quality — if not the highest quality — software this industry has ever seen. You have a strong history of serving PC gamers going all the way back to the mid 1990’s with Windows releases of classic software such as Panzer Dragoon & Virtua Fighter among others, as well as your prominent online gaming service for the PC platform, Heat.net.
In recent years SEGA has continued to have strong PC support with releases from franchises like Company of Heroes by Relic Entertainment, Total War by The Creative Assembly and Football Manager by Sports Interactive but now, PC gamers petition that you consider releasing more games, particularly from your Japanese division, on the PC platform.
With over 12,000 signatures on it and a successful Twitter campaign under their belts, the organizers are almost certainly attracting attention from SEGA. Perhaps they’ll be ignored, or maybe the likes of Vanquish coming to PC is only a matter of time.
