One Night Stand
One Night Stand on Nintendo Switch is, almost, what you think is. A man and a woman have a one night stand and One Night Stand the game starts after that event. I have never played an Adventure game like One Night Stand before. Most Adventure games are all-age affairs…this game is for adults. But again, the game isn’t exactly what you think its going to be. Let’s talk about One Night Stand and whether its a good game or not.
One Night Stand is an Adventure game where you try to find out the details of a one night stand between a man and a woman. The player wakes up as the man, quickly discovers that he’s in a strange room and has no idea how he got there. From there, the player looks around the room and can question the woman about the details.
Basically, One Night Stand is a point and click game. The player can examine objects or talk to the woman. There’s not much else to this game. One Night Stand is a very short game but it has multipl endings and you can speed through the game’s dialogue on repeat playthroughs. Once you’ve seen all the endings though, there really isn’t a reason to play One Night Stand again.
That said, One Night Stand is a really well written game. The interaction between the man and the woman are especially well done. And there are a few surprises in the experiance as well.
One Night Stand is, at its core, an interactive adult cartoon. And I don’t mean that as in the “lots of bad languagw and nudity” way of adult. You do see the woman’s bare back at the beginning of the game, but thats the most nudity you’ll see. The man in One Night Stand can spend most of the game naked but you never see anything. The Man’s perspective is in first person and you only ever see his shadow or part of his chest in a mirror.
When I call One Night Stand an adult game, its because it deals with an adult situation. And I called it a cartoon because the graphics have a very hand drawn feel to them. The graphical style is beautiful and really the best thing about the game.
I’m also happy to report that One Night Stand has touch screen controls and they work well. The analog stick and buttons work well too. This game also has motion controls but I could never get that to work…
Overall, One Night Stand is a good game. Its short but the multiple endings add some replay value. I enjoyed the game and like that it brings something different to the Adventure game genre. If you like Adventure games and want to see a unique adult experience, then you should check this game out.
One Night Stand gets a 7.5 out of 10.
