FuturLab Announcing New Project Today
The team behind Velocity 2X, Futurlab, will be announcing another project today.
The announcement will happen at the PlayStation Blog at 4pm BST and will no doubt continue their tradition of creating addictive, modern takes on classic genres. Aside from the fact that the announcement is happening – shared by James Marsden on Twitter – no other information about the new project has been announced.
It’s probably safe to presume it’ll be 2D, that it’ll be action-based (as opposed to the Coconut Dodge RPG I know we’re all waiting for) and that it’ll come to at least Vita (although more likely, Vita and PlayStation 4). Aside from that, it’s anybody’s guess where the FuturLab team will next turn their head. Even the release date – outside of a not-entirely-certain bet that it’ll be out after Velocity 2X – is a complete mystery.
FuturLab jumped to popularity on the PlayStation Mini platform. After the original Velocity was added to PlayStation Plus, they gained a following and remakes of both of their games – Velocity Ultra and Coconut Dodge Revitalised – cemented their place as a lead developer on the Vita. Velocity 2X builds upon the speed of the original Velocity by adding platforming elements, elements that have been getting great feedback out of the Eurogamer Expo.
