Tip #1 – Loot often, and be sure to use your senses to determine where loot might be hiding. Early on, you aren’t likely to spend a lot of money because you’ll be able to look a number of good weapons from the first few hours of the game. As you progress through, however, more options for spending money open up, including weapons and crafting materials. In the first temple you will explore, there are tons of vases and chests filled with great treasure lying around. Instead of blowing through that section to hit the wide, open world of Egypt, grab as much loot as you can!
Tip #2 – Spend your skill points. Through the opening moments, the game will run your through a fairly light tutorial, and while there may have been a prompt early on to spend my skill points, I somehow missed that while gazing at the beautiful world around me. Once you exit the first temple, and before you begin engaging with your first enemies outside, hop into your menu and spend those first three points awarded to you. My personal suggestion is to grab the skill that gains you more XP for headshots with a bow. Leveling up as quickly as possible early on is very important, so why not grap all the XP you can!
Tip #3 – Get that story progressed, but stop when the game asks you to leave Siwa. The initial region – and Bayek’s home town – is full of things to do, and if you are hungry to move the story forward, you could miss out on some fantastic opportunities, and some necessary leveling up time. After completing the first 4 or 5 missions in the game, you will be asked if you want to leave Siwa, and if you accept, the game will pull you out and dump you into another aspect of the game. While you can always go back to Siwa later, you’ll want to spend as much time there as possible early on, not only to learn the controls and mechanics of the game, but also to get your level up. I left Siwa at Level 9.
Tip #4 – Don’t forget about Senu. Senu has powers that even the best of Assassin’s don’t have, so putting them to use is incredibly important. When you stumble on a large temple complex early in the game, there will be three lootable chests to find. In my stupidity, I spent way more time than necessary hunting for those chests, forgetting that Senu could have flown over head and located the chests for me. Senu should be your go-to before EVER entering an area. Your winged friend can find quest objectives, chests, and much more.
Tip #5 – Explore and find those synchronization points. Explore the world of Egypt and enjoy all the hard work that was poured into this title from Ubisoft. Getting to those synchronization points – 3 in Siwa – will help you travel around the area, faster, at a later time.
