Mortal Kombat X Release Date Announced
Warner Brothers have announced today that they’ll be bringing Mortal Kombat X to PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on April 14th, 2015. Considering it was only officially announced quite recently, this will be fantastic news for those that were worried about the wait.
On top of that, they also announced that Goro, the four-armed character that has been part of the fvranchise since the very original game, will be available as a pre-order incentive*. Put your name on a copy of the game early and you’ll be able to play as the character from day one, although it’s worth noting that these sort of things eventually come out as DLC at a later date. Obviously no word on when, but you can expect them to ramp up the DLC available fairly quickly, probably within a few months, and a GOTY edition is never particularly far behind either. It’s the first time Goro has been playable in eight years, so hardcore fans will now have extra incentive to get involved right from the get go.
The April release date is going to make this a more than steady seller, allowing for little direct competition or end-of-year distractions like Call of Duty 2015. It’s also far sooner than perhaps some of us expected, so you know there’ll be plenty to keep you excited over the next six or seven months.
Edit
*Worth noting, and something I missed in the original press release, is that Goro will be available from a specific, currently unannounced UK retailer. Or, if announcing a pre-order incentive without saying who you should buy it off just seems a little silly, you can wait for the inevitable GOTY release.
