Konami ceases Console Production except on PES

You better maximize your time with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain since it will be the last new Metal Gear title you will ever play.. Konami has announced that they have dropped all AAA game support for consoles, except for their Pro Evolution Soccer series.

This means no more Metal Gear, Castlevania, and a host of other titles. This will not really come as a shock to many people. The company has been in turmoil ever since Kojima left, and even before that, numerous sites had reported on internal issues. The biggest: the money Konami brought in from PES and other franchises went directly to funding the expensive Metal Gear series.

It appears as if Konami will focus on the mobile market moving forward, although with companies like DeNA already ahead of the game – signing a nice deal with Nintendo for example – it will make people wonder how much longer Konami will survive in a fast changing industry.
