PS4 Remote Now Works Wirelessly on PS3
The Dualshock 4 is one of the most comfortable controllers going, which is why a fair few people were excited to find out that you were able to play PS3 games with it. Aside from a few titles, such as Grand Theft Auto V and Sly Cooper 4, almost every PS3 game supports it fully out of the box. There’s only one downside: you had to have the remote plugged in via USB. That has now changed.
The latest PS3 update has allowed the PS4 remote to be seen as a generic controller in the bluetooth menu (it being generic is the reason games using SixAxis control didn’t work). Simply connect up the DS4 with the wire, switch on the PS4, head into Accessories, Manage Bluetooth Devices and then scan. While scanning, you’ll want to hold both the PlayStation button and the Share button. The option to select the Wireless Controller should come up. Simply select, unplug and you’re good to go.
While this might not be the fix for some games that people were hoping for, it goes to show that Sony are still looking to work on their PS3 Dualshock 4 compatibility. Nobody expected to get even wireless support, so it’s a more than welcome step in the right direction.
