Three of the biggest storefronts in console gaming are discounting stock at once this weekend. Sony’s PlayStation Store Summer Sale and Microsoft’s Xbox Ultimate Game Sale are both still running, while Nintendo’s European eShop has its own summer promotion live, headlined by a cut-price Balatro.
PlayStation Store Summer Sale runs at up to 75% off until August 12
Sony’s PlayStation Store Summer Sale began on July 15 and, according to a post by PlayStation Store Promotions Delivery Manager Peter Boda on the official PlayStation Blog, the Summer Sale begins tomorrow, Wednesday July 15, offering savings of up to 75% across multiple PS5, PS4 and PS VR2 games, add-ons and more. Sony noted there are many hundreds of titles included in this promotion, spanning first-party exclusives, third-party blockbusters and indies alike.
The sale isn’t static for its full run. Sony’s own terms warn that some deals will be replaced by new offers, with the sale ending on August 12 at 23:59 PDT/BST/JST, though certain deals end before August 13. Shoppers chasing a specific title should therefore check individual product pages rather than assume every discount lasts the full four weeks.
Coverage of the sale’s early preview list has separately flagged Sony as having previewed around 389 products for the promotion ahead of launch, with the complete regional pricing only confirmed once the sale went live on the storefront.
Xbox Ultimate Game Sale discounts 2,000+ titles before its July 29 close
Over on Xbox, the Ultimate Game Sale 2026 is in its final stretch. Pure Xbox reports the event covers a list of over 2,000 discounted games across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC, with the storefront’s own tracking confirming discounts across Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC games, running until July 29.
Discount depth is unusually steep for a mid-year event: discounts reach as high as 90 percent on selected titles. Community tracker NeoGAF, cataloguing the deals in bulk, confirmed the same window, noting the promotion slashes the prices of all sorts of big-name games, including Final Fantasy VII Remake, Resident Evil Requiem, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows, running for two weeks and ending on July 29.
Microsoft has flagged some fine print worth noting before checkout: some games have separate listings for Xbox consoles and Windows PCs, so shoppers should check the supported platform before buying, since a Windows version does not always include the console edition, and an Xbox listing may not provide PC access unless Xbox Play Anywhere support is clearly included.
Nintendo’s European eShop sale cuts Balatro among 88 titles
On Switch, Nintendo’s regional storefronts have their own summer promotion running in parallel. Gaming outlet GAMES.GG reports that Nintendo’s European eShop summer sale is live with 88 top-rated Switch 1 and Switch 2 games discounted, including Balatro, Cuphead, and Alien: Isolation, with the sale ending on 2nd August.
Balatro, LocalThunk’s poker-inspired deckbuilder published by Playstack, has become a recurring eShop discount fixture since its Switch 2 launch earlier this year. Deal-tracking site GG.deals has previously logged the game currently down by 20% in select regions during earlier eShop promotions, underlining how frequently the roguelike card game resurfaces in seasonal sale rotations across both Switch generations.
GAMES.GG frames the current line-up as strong value for the price, noting when titles like Balatro and Cuphead sit alongside relative unknowns like Dicefolk and Chico and the Magic Orchards DX, the sheer variety makes it easy to miss the stuff that punches above its price point.
Timing across the Tasman
For players in New Zealand and Australia, the timezones matter more than usual this week given how many storefronts are running concurrently. Sony has set its PlayStation Store cut-off at 00:00am PDT/BST/JST on July 27 for the first wave of refreshed deals, meaning some current PS Store bargains will vanish or change over the coming days even though the wider Summer Sale continues into August. Xbox’s Ultimate Game Sale and Nintendo’s eShop promotion both close within the following fortnight, so shoppers building a winter gaming backlog in the Southern Hemisphere have a tight but workable window across all three storefronts before prices reset.
