Phantom Pain Getting Special Gamescom Event, Surprises Promised
Further to their announcement that Gamescom would be a big time for the franchise, Konami have announced that they’ve organized a special “preview night” dedicated to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The show will be hosted by Geoff Keighley and will feature an exclusive demonstration by Hideo Kojima of “the impressive capabilities of Kojima Productions’ breathtaking FOX Engine.” The evening will coincide with Gamescom and will take place in Cologne, Germany.
For those interested, the Phantom Pain preview evening will take place in the Musical Dome on August 13th at 8PM CET (7PM London time). Ticket availability will be announced at a later date, although there will be chances for “die hard Metal Gear Solid fans” to win tickets in the mean time. As well as the presentation, there’ll also be a Q&A session with Kojima. The press release promises “a few surprises,” although no hints were given to the scale of what we might expect.
Don’t worry if you don’t fancy travelling half way across the world though, alongside the announcement Konami have confirmed that you’ll be able to tune in on Twitch. While the Musical Dome only holds 1600 people, you can bet there’ll be thousands more watching online, desperate to see a little more of The Phantom Pain, and perhaps to even get someone as concrete as a release date, or some details on Metal Gear Online 3. The show will last for an hour, so perhaps it’s best to curb that excitement, and then be impressed if anything surprising actually shows.
More information on the Phantom Pain preview event, as well as the game itself, will be revealed over the coming few weeks.
