Mass Effect 4 Survey has received “Overwhelming Response”
After the fanbase-splitting ending to Mass Effect 3, a survey concerning the future of the franchise was always going to bring out people who wanted their opinions heard. While it’s hard to envy the guy that has to go through it all over the coming months, one thing is certain: there definitely have been an awful lot of responses.
Michael Gamble, producer on Mass Effect 4, has confirmed that there has been an “overwhelming response to the [Mass Effect 4] survey so far,” and that it’s provided him with “enough reading material for a month.” That’s not where he wants it to end though, and invites fans to continue sending in their thoughts and opinions. A panel at comic-con later this year, entitled Charting a Course: Developing the Next Mass Effect, will hopefully allow fans another chance to get closer to the development of the franchise, and it seems there won’t be much that’s off-the-table when it comes to discussion.
The vast majority of people enjoyed Mass Effect 3, but the last twenty minutes or so, as well as a few plot holes to developments from earlier games, meant that it quickly became a divisive title. In all honesty, it’s hard to imagine that a brand new game outside of the original trilogy could manage to be as controversial as the last release was – not unless there’s a bunch of ret-cons – but any chance to give fans a voice is a positive thing.
