Lightning Returns, and She’s Not Alone
Lightning Returns early next year, and she’s bringing a few new friends with her. This new trailer from Square Enix shows off a little bit of battle, but it’s more about the changes between Final Fantasy XIII, XIII-2 and Lightning Returns.
It seems the heroine of Final Fantasy XIII may well be a little less self-sure as she was when she and her friends became l’Cie. With some old allies now becoming enemies and a few unexpected reunions, Lightning Returns will no doubt be a fitting conclusion what might be the most controversial part of the franchise.
There was a little more information in the press release, not really obvious from the trailer. The first is that Hope will guide Lightning throughout her journey. He’ll do this from a place called The Ark, a mysterious location in which time no longer runs. They specifically point out that Hope is no longer an adult.
Fang, who I’m not sure anyone was expecting at this point, is the leader of a group of bandits in The Dead Dunes.
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be available for purchase in February next year. If you’re desperate for your Final Fantasy fix, Final Fantasy VII was released on Steam today and Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD is right around the corner as well.
