The Last of Us PS4 Has Gone Gold
The Last of Us PS4 is done and being prepared for retail as we speak. If you’re excited to return to Joel and Ellie’s adventure – only without all the visual problems that caused issues the first time around – it is now as good as it’s ever going to be (at least without downloading patches anyway). It also means that the Naughty Dog team who were working on the port can move onto bigger and better future projects.
Mike Yosh, lead animator for Naughty Dog, took to Twitter this morning to share with his fans that The Last of Us had finally gone gold.

That doesn’t mean that all the work is done. It’s probable that a smaller team will now have the honour of preparing a day one patch, the pressure of deadlines and release dates now slightly less terrifying. With the disk finished, the developers can take to their QA lists and decide what exactly is fixable in the remaining time frame.
Aside from that, there’s also going to be a sudden marketing surge. We’ll finally be able to see actual gameplay representative of the finished product, not to mention that with only a few weeks left to go, there’s likely to be a load of interviews and development stories to look forward to.
