Knights of the Old Republic Turns Ten
One of the most popular and influential RPGs ever has turned ten today. Knights of the Old Republic was one of the first games to successfully capture the Star Wars vibe, but it also made a genre accessible to a whole new group of people and made possible games like Mass Effect, Dragon Age and even the modern Fallout games.
Over the last ten years, Knights of the Old Republic has had a sequel, Bioware have created an MMO set in the same universe, it has seen multiple re-releases across PC, Xbox and iOS and it remains one of the best ways to experience that Star Wars lore up close and personal.
With a roster of memorable characters and the ability to choose whether you follow the light or dark sides of the force, Knights of the Old Republic created a revolution in the RPG genre, where most mainstream titles tried to emulate Final Fantasy as opposed to Fallout.
To celebrate ten years, EA will be doing various things with The Old Republic. If you’re not interested in that, why not watch for them to hit 66% off on Steam during the summer sale (they’re currently at 33%, but expect a Star Wars sale at some point), or jump onto the iOS version and relive one of the classics?
Knights of the Old Republic was released on 15th July, 2003. The PC version has a score of 93 on Metacritic.
