Deadly Premonition Coming to PC
Deadly Premonition is coming to PC. Offering a heady mix of terrible controls and gameplay, silly scripting but deep characterisation, Deadly Premonition is the very definition of a community-splitting game. It’ll be the director’s cut as well, so there’s the new scenario, “enhanced” graphics (which bring it up to PS2 standards) and the reworked control scheme (which still sucks).
There will be some extra stuff exclusive to the PC version though. New DLC and Steam Trading Cards will offer previous players a reason to come back, and maybe a decent rig will get the textures loading on time.
There will also be Steam achievements included.
Honestly, it seems a little odd that Deadly Premonition – a game that’s been available on Xbox 360 for years internationally, and which now has a PS3 version worldwide as well – should have to go through the Greenlight process. There have been ports of console games to Steam before, and it’s always seemed a little strange with those as well, but Deadly Premonition is by no means a small title. It’ll dash through the Greenlight process, rather nullifying the point of having it on there. Meanwhile, indie developers with only two or three dedicated followers will watch as a multimillion dollar title rushes past them.
From the Deadly Premonition Greenlight page:
We’re excited about the idea of bringing you an enhanced version of the already-improved Director’s Cut, but to do that – as with any Greenlight project – we need your help.
People are also asking for mod support, so it might be nice to think that you’ll be able to create your own scenarios, or even fix some of the more annoying parts of the gameplay (shorten the lumber mill, perhaps).
