Cheater responds to accusations, Sony change Greatness Awaits policies

Sony have slightly changed the way they announce the winners of the Greatness Awaits auctions in light of yesterdays cheater debacle. Previously the winning PSN ID was publically visible, allowing people like us to dig deeper into the winner’s trophy history and uncover possible dubious activity. However now their ID is kept hidden from the public and instead the auction is listed as Sold with the tagline:

This item is sold. Auction Winner Pending. We are currently validating the winner.

A wise move from Sony and one which indicates they are in fact looking into all winners to determine if their trophies were legitimately earned.

Meanwhile…

The accused cheater redsoxfan95 took to the PSNProfiles’ forums last night to protest his innocence. The thread he started is now closed and his account has been banned but not before some comical banter took place in amongst the forum regulars. It’s worth noting that we can’t confirm if the forum member in question is in fact redsoxfan95 or just somebody who created the account.
Here are a handful of his comments quoted directly from the thread.

Why is everyone saying that I’m a hacker? Just because I once got 8,500 trophies in one day does NOT mean I’m a hacker, like seriously, has no one else ever played PS3 all day getting a shitload of trophies?

So I take it as none of you ever got 8,500 trophies in a single day… you guys must not be real trophy hunters.

I’m legit bro, I don’t see how getting 8,500 trophies in a day isn’t legit.

Well I don’t know what to say. No one believes that I’m legit when I AM legit.

So let me get this straight, you guys think I’m a hacker? Even after I stated that I was legit? Do you guys think I’m a f**king liar? Wow, I am in disbelief! I don’t know why I donated to this site if all the members call me liars. I am actually crying as I type this.

I don’t care what you guys say, it’s all wrong. I am legit, you are going to have to deal with it.

I don’t understand how you think I ruined anything for any of you. First of all, I’m legit so I don’t see how that could ruin anything. Second of all, even IF I was a hacker, how would that affect you from playing the game legitly? I think hackers suck! I am the most legit person in the world!

As stated above that may just be some troll who created the account just to get a laugh. Judging by his behaviour in the thread it’s highly likely. However the real redsoxfan95 did upload a video to Youtube back in February showing a mod menu for Call of Duty World At War that could potentially be used to insta-earn trophies.
