Blake Stone Source Code Uncovered, Released to Fans

Blake Stone Source Code

Apogee Software have discovered the Blake Stone source code and are releasing it to fans. Blake Stone: Planet Strike was a 1994 FPS from around the same time as Doom. Nearly twenty years after its release, the source code (which was presumed missing) will allow fans to look into how Blake Stone was built.

The Blake Stone source code is available for free from the Apogee website. This will allow those with the know-how to build new things for the game, as well as fix bugs and explore (until now) undiscovered secrets.

Both Blake Stone games are available as part of the recently released Apogee Throwback Pack, a pack that also contains Rise of the Triad and Extreme Rise of the Triad. Having access to the Blake Stone source code is a great opportunity for those that are only playing the series for the first time. By pre-purchasing the new Rise of the Triad game from Steam, you’ll get this pack for absolutely nothing.

From Terry Nagy, CCO of Apogee:

When we were selecting games for the Throwback Pack and decided to put both Blake Stone games in, I knew we had a golden opportunity to finally release the source code that Blake fans have been wanting for all these years. And when I contacted Mike Maynard, he agreed that it was definitely about time. Nice to know that those old 3.5″ floppies retain data for so long!
