The Last of Us Rocks its First Weekend
The Last of Us has had a great first weekend, proving beyond a doubt that Sony’s latest has at least hit home with its biggest fans. Although no specific sales data has been released, it did make it to the top of the all-format charts (knocking GRID 2 from its high point) and is thought to be the highest grossing new IP since L.A. Noire, which released in 2011. It’s also the first Sony published game to reach the top spot since Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
Thanks mostly to its story and developer Naughty Dog’s glowing reputation, The Last of Us has been a must-play since its first reveal at the end of 2011. The winner of dozens of 10/10 awards before launch, reaction since has been a little quieter but still very positive. We gave it a 9/10.
MCV have claimed that The Last of Us even managed to bring in more revenue than Man of Steel.
