Mortal Kombat X Announced
Warner Brothers have today announced the next entry in the Mortal Kombat series. Mortal Kombat X is the long-awaited follow-up to the semi-reboot Mortal Kombat 9, which was really a a remake of sorts of the first three titles in the franchise. Where will they go next? Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long to find out, with details due to come out during E3.
That’s not to say we can’t get out first glimpse of what could be, with a teaser trailer released alongside the announcement.
The trailer shows series favorites Sub Zero and Scorpion battling it out. It almost looks like it’s in-game footage, but whether that’s something that the developers have purposefully tried to pull off or if it actually will contain enviromental interaction and mini-cutscenes, it’s hard to tell. Either way, it looks great, and hopefully the game itself will run as smoothly on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
That’s not to say that Mortal Kombat fans who’ve yet to upgrade to the latest systems will be left out. Mortal Kombat X will also be coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. More impressively, it’ll also be available to purchase on PC – not something that often happens at launch for fighting games. We’ll have to wait and see whether that’s just a nice intention or if it’s something more concrete, but for now all we can do is look forward to E3.
