Dead Island 2 Announced
You wanted zombies, so Sony have announced zombies. At their E3 conference this evening, they announced Dead Island 2. It’s set in a colourful Californian town with gorgeous beaches.
Dead Rising was always a great get for Microsoft, so it’s nice to see that Sony fans will soon have a nice alternative. Like the Xbox-exclusive, killing groups of zombies is the most important thing you can do. Plot, presumably, is told as you help survivors find friends, items or, sometimes, to just survive. It seems there’ll be a lot more humour this time around as well.
It’ll be interesting to see how far they take the MMO-lite idea of the original Dead Island. It was a great game, but it was also incredibly flawed and didn’t do nearly enough with its idea. This was made worse when its sequel, Dead Island: Riptide, wallowed in the same problems as its predecessor. Moving forward, we can only hope that things are more interesting.
No release date yet, nor any actual in-game footage, so you can expect this one to take its time getting to us. That doesn’t mean that it’s a million miles out though, and the developers might confirm a time frame in the near future.
