Battlefield 4 Explodes with Potential, Destruction
Battlefield 3 was a good game. What would have made it a great game? Destructible environments. It was there in small doses, but it felt almost scripted in its limitations. That’s not going to be the case in Battlefield 4, as the demonstration game shown at tonight’s EA conference proved. We’re talking skyscraper falling, foundation shaking destruction, and it’s going to change the way we look at online games.
With 64 players on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, console gamers will experience a new kind of strategic warfare. This will be aided by the new commander mode, an app which, through Battlefield’s Battlelog network, allows players to control and aid their team via tablets. A decent commander will spot and nullify threats long before they happen, and it’ll be a role that I’m sure many are hungry to take on.
For those who might prefer a more traditional approach to the FPS, the gameplay still looks as solid as it was in Battlefield 3. The bonuses just elevate it to the position it ought to have been in in the first place: an unmatched online experience.
