After just over two years in development delay limbo, to it’s eventual release just two days ago, Watch_dogs has been hyped as one of the big new IPs to watch out for (excuse the terrible pun).

Seems as though the hype has paid of for Ubisoft, as today it was revealed that Watch_dogs is already their most successful IP to date. The games publisher revealed today that their own 24 hour sales records have been broken by Watch_dogs after an analysis of day one sales.

While Ubisoft has not revealed the specific number of units sold or the financial return made from Watch_dogs sales, it is clear that the team are thrilled with the outcome.

CEO Yves Guillemot posted his own thoughts on the Ubisoft site, stating: “Watch Dogs is an amazing achievement and our teams should be proud that the creativity, innovation and long hours they invested in making this game are paying off. It’s great to see so many players enjoying the game, and it shows that Watch Dogs has cracked the code for developing a new blockbuster IP and a thoroughly new-gen experience.”

So far Watch_dogs has received mostly positive reviews, with many reviewers praising the games varied level of interactivity when hacking, however many have also raised concerns on the lack of character development and underwhelming storyline.

Watch_dogs is out now for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, Wii U, and PC.
